Kind of crazy to me that governments aren’t massively interested in hosting their own fediverse instances. It has huge appeal of providing announcements on a broader platform while also controlling your instance and still being from a .gov source.
That requires IT knowledge from a recent decade. Many municipalities have only recently discovered dialup internet.
As embarrassing as this is, if this bit of appeasement even slightly diminishes the damage they’re going to do to the SSA then I’m okay with it.
