It goes back to the Broken Windows theory about crime. The Broken Windows Theory in criminology posits that visible signs of crime, antisocial behavior, and civil disorder create an environment that encourages further criminal activity. These visible signs, such as broken windows or graffiti, signal a lack of order and law enforcement, leading to more serious crimes.

So, the more we let these billionaires and radical far-Right extremists keep breaking windows, like what they did on January 6, the more they’ll be encouraged to keep doing it. We (society) are letting them do it without consequences, so there’s no incentive for them to ever stop.

Except that theory is bunk when it comes to actual crime.

How can we start to clean up the graffiti?

Kind of an honest question. I vote in all elections, attempting to read up on candidates as I make my vote. Choosing one’s that align with my views. I sign petitions in similar fashion.

Stop using X for one and encourage others to leave. If you really don’t want to leave for whatever reason you’d better be jumping in and steering these convos back in the right direction (and get banned I’m sure).

I hate to say it but voting is the bare minimum.

  • Vote
  • If you can donate to your candidate or choice, do it.
  • if you can’t donate, volunteer.
  • Live in an area where the race is pretty much set due to gerrymandering? Volunteer and donate for other candidates.
  • Don’t have time to volunteer? Write to your editor about your candidate.
  • Don’t want to write? Send dank memes to people on lemmy encouraging them to vote.

We pause thisfootball game to let the Blue Angels do a fly over, enlist today. Obey, consume and die. Cradle to Grave. Todays messages was brought to you by Carls Jr.
