This is from 1984. (The guy on the right is Keith David, by the way.)

I didn’t even notice the sweater the kid was wearing until someone else pointed it out.

I doubt either Mr. Rogers’ production company in Pittsburgh raided the Paramount costuming warehouse in L.A. or vice-versa.

Who knew 20th century sweaters would be popular centuries from now?

The rainbow jumper Wesley wore was custom made for the show. But stuff like this clearly inspired it. “Which was the style at the time.”

(I remember a 1990s-era behind the scenes special that talked about making his costumes in particular. Good luck me ever finding it again, though.)

This sweater predated TNG. This is from 1983 (I thought it was from 1984, but someone corrected me). TNG premiered in 1987.

Well, yeah. Hard to be inspired by something that hasn’t been made yet.

Unless you’re saying the person who made the sweater from ’83 time travelled to the 24th century. :)

The 80s were all about rainbows on clothes. And Day-glo. We don’t talk about the Day-glo.

I read Wesley’s tricolor stripe was supposed to be the 3 uniform colors which the student hasn’t chosen yet.

Yep. The picture above is an actual rainbow. Wesley’s jumper has the Starfleet department colors only.

The picture above is an actual rainbow.

Poor kid. Probably died from woke by now. If only there was some way to have been aware of the sociological impacts of reckless ignorance and cruelty.

/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally “othering” of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That’s okay! Just don’t let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it’s free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not ‘inspire jamaharon’

~ **8. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community’s expectations.

Fun will now commence.
