I was just talking about this idea with a friend. We decided it would be political suicide in the US for anyone to suggest eating less meat.

People would literally rather see the world burn than give up their chicken nuggets.

I’m not even hardcore vegetarian. I looked at the situation and agreed it’s hard to ethically justify eating meat. So I started eating less. I’m down to pretty much just “sometimes I get a pizza slice with a meat topping if there’s nothing good without meat”. Maybe I’ll cut that out too one day.

I’m always kind of amazed that DND is such a big budget game that has so many weird problems.

5e has both too many rules and not enough rules.

It has very specific rules in some places. Item interactions, many spell specifics, grapple, holding your breath, etc.

It has very lackluster rules in other places. Social conflict, item and spell crafting, metagame stuff like making your own class or species.

I think a lot of people playing DND would be happier playing a different system. Just not the same system for everyone.

I think it was a different thread where I posted about how a guy in my dnd group straight face told us something like “the beauty of DND is we can just try out different rules. If we want to do a chase scene we can try it one way, and if it doesn’t work or we don’t like it we can try something else”.

I’m just like that’s not a unique property of DND. That’s just how playing make believe works. And I’d rather have a game that runs okay out of the box rather than keep playtesting as a DM, or deal with unchecked dm whims as a player.

It would be nice if the party members would voice a “Hey wait” more often instead of just silently disapproving.

The christian bible is pretty clear about how you should pray. In the closet, where no one but your god can see you.

Anyone who’s loud about being christian is doing it wrong.

On the other hand, that same chapter has some insanity about “don’t worry about food god will provide”, so.

Republicans are so hostile to laws protecting the safety and well-being of children that they’ve even blocked the U.S. from ratifying the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child, making ours the only nation in the world that doesn’t recognize the human rights of children.

We should probably do something about republicans.

Poly is about more than sex.

Ethical non monogamy is uncommon so there are very few cultural signposts about it. It’s reasonable to want to see yourself or your situation reflected in media. Some families have multiple adults in loving relationships simultaneously.

Too often a conversation on slack turns into “can we have a zoom to talk about this?” And I’m like why just read and answer my question.

I think a lot more people than I assumed are not actually that good at processing written words.
