Is that true? I thought apple’s business model was to not sell your data but charge more upfront. Do you have a source discussing this that you can point me to?

Edit: I’ve searched online and can’t find even a single article talking about Apple selling your data. I’m an iPhone user so I want to know. The most recent Apple privacy article I can find reports on how they’re closing fingerprinting loopholes in third party apps.

I definitely don’t want to be naive or credulous, but given how aggressively they’ve prevented third parties from gathering data, I’m cautiously optimistic. I don’t think this is a “both sides” situation, unless someone can point me to some information to the contrary.

I think Reddit doesn’t realize that what made their UI so appealing was precisely that it felt really functional and bare bones, like Craigslist still does or Google used to. As if it was designed by nerds who just wanted the most functional site. It makes it seem more trustworthy and neutral, less monetized.

This redesign looks painfully corporate.

I don’t get this. Are you saying that iPhones are more disposable? iFixit says iPhones are more repairable than almost all android phones.

The software situation is no contest. My iPhone 6s, released in 2015, is still getting security updates in 2023. It got its last OS update in 2021. Meanwhile, most premium flagship Android phones don’t get security updates for more than 3 years, much less OS updates, and even that’s a recent change.

Not to say iPhones couldn’t be better, but I left Android specifically because of longevity. I wish all phones were as repairable as Fairphone.

The workers are apparently offered a transfer to nearby stores. Do they keep the unionized status?

Can someone explain what’s going on? I’m not sure I follow.

I see. I was confused because they’re both ugly screenshots. It’s not like the top image is Batman Arkham Knight or something.

This looks like what they call a bifurcation point in complexity theory, the point at which a small change in the parameters of the system leads to a big qualitative change. The environment has been absorbing heat and greenhouse gases but staying relatively stable. But this year, it feels like things have suddenly shifted to a new scary equilibrium.

Hard disagree with the idea that our justice system sucks because it’s “too soft”. The US has one of the most punitive systems in the developed world, with literally the most people imprisoned per capita of any country in the world.

But agree that policing is shockingly incompetent.

I like the article, but red tape means pointless or needlessly complicated bureaucracy. Doesn’t apply to just any regulation.

What the hell. Can people please cancel en masse already? Why are consumers putting up with this? The price increases stop once it’s not profitable anymore.
