Stopping new rules and stopping basic alerting are very different. I can see an administration wanting to review new rules. But stopping normal communication is extreme.

Not necessarily, but if another public health crisis happens, the government has crippled our built in responses.
I doubt the current bird flu problem will jump to humans en masse but it’s a dangerous one out there right now.
It’s up to individuals talking and posting about who’s trustworthy.
Even before this, The People’s CDC was doing better work than the regular CDC on covid. This and other stuff like it is what will guide us.
Funding is still an issue, but trust is something we maintain ourselves by individuals paying attention and speaking honestly.

The CDC did what they could with the information they had at the time. Yes, the pandemic was bad, but it was a pandemic. No shit it was bad. Could the CDC have handled it better? Sure. But could you imagine how much worse it would have been without it?
I don’t want to listen to some uneducated, non-accredited assholes on the internet telling me to eat horse dewormer, thanks. I’ll take the scientists who studied and are experienced in disease and pathology.
