This has bugged me forever, because, surprisingly, Tighten is correct.
There is no Queen and no King of England, the title was abolished in 1707 with the Acts of Union, when England and Scotland were joined into the Kingdom of Great Britain.
Accordingly the correct title is: The King / Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
There hasn’t been a Queen of England since 1 May 1707.
…and before the day is out a couple people are going to be missing fingers or hands!
July 4th: There is no Queen of England.
Next May the 4th: Somehow Elizabeth returned.
