For context, my wife is always criticizing how I donโt add enough salt to the dishes I cook. I also have no tats. She does.
But at least you can always add more salt lol
You need to add salt as you cook. Yes, you can add it afterwards, but you donโt get the same flavor layering, food texture, salt penetration, and for some foods, the necessary chemical reactions in your dishes. In some sense, I feel confident that your wife is right based purely on the fact that you think you can just add salt after itโs cooked and get the same thing.

Iโm a white dude with no tattoos, but I have this argument all the time with my family. โYou can add hot sauce and salt afterward for yourself!โ Thatโs not how this works Susan. Thatโs not how any of this works. All of cooking is chemistry and physics! And get over it! If Iโm cooking Iโm using salt and guajillio peppers!

Eating too much salt is not healthy and throwing spicy peppers when the one that are going to eat donโt handle spicy is just being an asshole tbh.
Fuck being healthy at this point tbh, I just want to have a good time until I die, weโre all fucked anyways so whatโs even the point, I get to suffer longer in old age from the climate wars? Great.
Itโs normal when Iโm making fucking chili Susan! And thereโs a difference between too much salt and adding the appropriate amount of salt.
And research has shown that the most effective way to not have problems with too much sodium in the blood/high blood pressure is to drink more fucking water.
And the person that complains to me about the salt levels in my food? A) didnโt pay for the fucking food and B) drinks 12 fucking diet Dr peppers a day because โthey are healthier.โ So fuck em!
Itโs like theyโre not even doing coke ๐ฎโ๐จ
Went to a new Asian place. Cheff had no idea what vegan means. Cheff is on the phone with his family while taking my order. Cheff starts singing in mandarin while cooking. Best Asian restaurant in the city.

I feel like oversalting is a popular attempted cover up for mediocrity. Iโm tired of waking up the next morning after a dinner out feeling like the mummy from Brendan Fraserโs โthe mummyโ
Sometimes, yep. Other times people just get desensitized from eating too much of it.
People also tend to add more seasoning (particularly salt) as they get older and their senses dull.
To my knowledge, sensory organs also donโt dull. You might need glasses or have hearing damage, but dulling is a new one to me
