per Decision Desk, it looks like trump won. Iâm starting to see a few outlets like NBC call Pennsylvania for trump, too.
as a trans woman, iâm fucking terrified.
yeah, if you voted for trump this election, after everything over the last ~9 years, youâre fucking evil. straight up evil. lots of people, worldwide, are going to suffer because of this as the world falls deeper under the influence of fascism. take care of yourself, take care of your loved ones, form communities, and be prepared to fight for your lives. weâre going to need each other if weâre going to to make it through this
You donât have to be trans to be fucking terrified. Trump somehow always underperforms in the polls, but weâve now seen what this country truly is, and I want none of this. Already working on possible alternatives.
Iâm a cis Canadian and Iâm terrified for everyone in the US. Even the ignorant masses who viewed for him. Project 2025 is going to dismantle American democracy, and with a stuffed supreme court, there are no remaining impediments to reverse this for a generation, until itâs too entrenched to change. If the USA lasts that long.
Literally wondering if an American civil war, or breaking apart into smaller countries, will be coming.
Longer term, terrified what this will mean for anthropogenic climate change and the world my children will inherit. (A climate-science denier is going to be the PM of Canada this time next year, too, and many are already provincial premiers.)
I didnât think this was possible, tbh. I donât understand how 51% of Americans can think the âgrab-her-by-the-pussyâ con artist is the best choice for president. Heâs literally told them, repeatedly, what heâs going to do and they donât care, donât pay attention, or donât believe him. I canât even.
Iâm going to go bury my head in the sand. No more news for me for the next long while. This isnât good for my health.
As a fellow Canadian resident⌠this is brutal man. I canât believe people would vote this fuck in again. Like, how can you look at his first four years as the most incompetent president in the history of the us and say âya Iâll have some more of that?â
Whatâs also terrifying is the repercussions this will have on our country and our brothers and sisters down south of the American cesspool. Un-fucking-believable. Good job you guys.
I donât understand how 51% of Americans can think the âgrab-her-by-the-pussyâ con artist is the best choice for president.
They donât, but due to a combination of voter disenfranchisement and apathy, voter turnout is usually around 50%-60% max. 2020 was a very large turnout at 66.8%. So 51% of 60% think he is. Still too many, but if we had a way to get every eligible voter a ballot, it would likely be different
Just a question: Where can you see the voter turn out rate in this and possibly past elections? I canât find that.
It canât anymore. Project 2025 will happen, and the guardrails have been removed. Welcome to totalitarianism
All I can say is that Iâm really sorry. I donât understand why people are like this. Authoritarianism isnât a good thing. I donât understand how America somehow regressed further than the start of the American government.
Iâm worried this will be the catalyst to things getting worse where I live, and Iâm not even American. Based on 2016, this outcome wonât do us any favors either. I just hope that things turn out for the best
This is fucking revolting. Iâm so full of bile this morning and Iâm trying hard not to smear it all over the place. Iâm sincerely worried for all of the people this presidency of sick fucks threatens. I wish I could cram all of you in my small apartment north of the border and cook the biggest batch of oatmeal cookies ever. I might have to avoid news for a while to find my footing again. Whatâs the point of being informed if I canât cope.
Iâm sincerely worried for all of the people this presidency of sick fucks threatens.
Unfortunately, with his climate policies, thatâs every human on earth.
I moved my family from USA to BC last year, not because of Trump, but because I thought we could have a better life here. I did not realize how much better. I feel like I should start building bunk beds in my basement Tyler Durden style for all my friends who are still in the US.
I can not make sense of this election. I have been pretty pessimistic in the past, but never before would have believed that America was this rotten. The consequences of this will be dire, widespread, and long term.
Still baffled me that more than half of US population support him
Thatâs the kicker. No matter what Harris do, no matter how left her policy is, no matter how stern her gaza stance is, sheâs gonna lose. The world is moving toward right. My countryâs on the way there too unfortunately.
tbh, i dont think toeing the biden line on gaza is what id call stern. if anything, i think she lost votes bc she couldnât commit to actual consequences for the genocide beyond a finger wagging.
No. She lost because a massive Russian and US-fascist campaign corrupted the state of the media until people couldnât tell up from down.
âI care so much about the Palestinian people that I have no choice but to become âunexcitedâ about the only candidate of the two who doesnât actively want Netanyahu to exterminate them even harderâ is yet another example of the nonsense-logic they managed to get into the conversation. If Biden had been taking a hard line on weapons shipments, the big catastrophe about the left candidate would have been something else. I can almost guarantee it.
she lost because she tried to play games with lives. shouldâve been strong on Ukraine and Palestine
Trump has been strong on his opinions on both Ukraine and Palestine, and his opinions were fucking terrible.
Those that didnât vote against that are a problem.
Hey @UngodlyAudrey@beehaw.org, I know we donât really know each other and Iâm just a random dude on the internet but Iâm shattered for you and other folks like you that are rightly scared by this outcome. Iâm raising kids in this nightmare and Iâm terrified of what theyâre going to face growing up. I donât know what to do either. I know this is all empty words but itâs what Iâve got right now.
