per Decision Desk, it looks like trump won. I’m starting to see a few outlets like NBC call Pennsylvania for trump, too.

as a trans woman, i’m fucking terrified.

yeah, if you voted for trump this election, after everything over the last ~9 years, you’re fucking evil. straight up evil. lots of people, worldwide, are going to suffer because of this as the world falls deeper under the influence of fascism. take care of yourself, take care of your loved ones, form communities, and be prepared to fight for your lives. we’re going to need each other if we’re going to to make it through this

You don’t have to be trans to be fucking terrified. Trump somehow always underperforms in the polls, but we’ve now seen what this country truly is, and I want none of this. Already working on possible alternatives.

I’m a cis Canadian and I’m terrified for everyone in the US. Even the ignorant masses who viewed for him. Project 2025 is going to dismantle American democracy, and with a stuffed supreme court, there are no remaining impediments to reverse this for a generation, until it’s too entrenched to change. If the USA lasts that long.

Literally wondering if an American civil war, or breaking apart into smaller countries, will be coming.

Longer term, terrified what this will mean for anthropogenic climate change and the world my children will inherit. (A climate-science denier is going to be the PM of Canada this time next year, too, and many are already provincial premiers.)

I didn’t think this was possible, tbh. I don’t understand how 51% of Americans can think the “grab-her-by-the-pussy” con artist is the best choice for president. He’s literally told them, repeatedly, what he’s going to do and they don’t care, don’t pay attention, or don’t believe him. I can’t even.

I’m going to go bury my head in the sand. No more news for me for the next long while. This isn’t good for my health.

It can’t anymore. Project 2025 will happen, and the guardrails have been removed. Welcome to totalitarianism

They don’t, but due to a combination of voter disenfranchisement and apathy, voter turnout is usually around 50%-60% max. 2020 was a very large turnout at 66.8%. So 51% of 60% think he is. Still too many, but if we had a way to get every eligible voter a ballot, it would likely be different

Almost nobody likes him these days it seems - only what he can do for people, and in particular more than being “the other side”.

Just a question: Where can you see the voter turn out rate in this and possibly past elections? I can’t find that.

As a fellow Canadian resident… this is brutal man. I can’t believe people would vote this fuck in again. Like, how can you look at his first four years as the most incompetent president in the history of the us and say “ya I’ll have some more of that?”

What’s also terrifying is the repercussions this will have on our country and our brothers and sisters down south of the American cesspool. Un-fucking-believable. Good job you guys.

I am not surprised that Trump underperformed in the polls. His voter demographic is inherently sceptical towards the media and institutions, so many of them will probably not take part in polls.

Still baffled me that more than half of US population support him

Americas garbage education system (which he wants to dismantle further) combined with people being inundated with false info means they live in an alternate universe

not a meaningful difference, but if it’s true that only a fifty-something percent voted, then the other half just doesn’t care what is happening with them and their folks

That’s the kicker. No matter what Harris do, no matter how left her policy is, no matter how stern her gaza stance is, she’s gonna lose. The world is moving toward right. My country’s on the way there too unfortunately.

tbh, i dont think toeing the biden line on gaza is what id call stern. if anything, i think she lost votes bc she couldn’t commit to actual consequences for the genocide beyond a finger wagging.

I don’t mean toeing the biden line, i mean stern against israel. I might have spoke too soon because we might get the full picture once we see the voter turnout. So far it seems like american vote for trump, without exception.

No. She lost because a massive Russian and US-fascist campaign corrupted the state of the media until people couldn’t tell up from down.

“I care so much about the Palestinian people that I have no choice but to become ‘unexcited’ about the only candidate of the two who doesn’t actively want Netanyahu to exterminate them even harder” is yet another example of the nonsense-logic they managed to get into the conversation. If Biden had been taking a hard line on weapons shipments, the big catastrophe about the left candidate would have been something else. I can almost guarantee it.

Trump has been strong on his opinions on both Ukraine and Palestine, and his opinions were fucking terrible.

Those that didn’t vote against that are a problem.

All I can say is that I’m really sorry. I don’t understand why people are like this. Authoritarianism isn’t a good thing. I don’t understand how America somehow regressed further than the start of the American government.

I’m worried this will be the catalyst to things getting worse where I live, and I’m not even American. Based on 2016, this outcome won’t do us any favors either. I just hope that things turn out for the best

It will, all of the fascist cunts have a world with no repercussions. So Ukraine falls, Palestinians all get killed, Orban does some kind of shit, every cunt you can think of does whatever. And we’ve yet to see what the orange cunt does

@UngodlyAudrey Whatever you do, don’t plan on moving to Eastern Europe. Trump will leave us all at the mercy of Russians*.

*That is, if you think the situation under the Russian influence will still be worse than under Trump

I would like to think blue States will put up a fight. But I guess it depends on project 2025 and how they react to that.

If they let it happen, then idk I guess that’s that.

This is fucking revolting. I’m so full of bile this morning and I’m trying hard not to smear it all over the place. I’m sincerely worried for all of the people this presidency of sick fucks threatens. I wish I could cram all of you in my small apartment north of the border and cook the biggest batch of oatmeal cookies ever. I might have to avoid news for a while to find my footing again. What’s the point of being informed if I can’t cope.

I moved my family from USA to BC last year, not because of Trump, but because I thought we could have a better life here. I did not realize how much better. I feel like I should start building bunk beds in my basement Tyler Durden style for all my friends who are still in the US.

I can not make sense of this election. I have been pretty pessimistic in the past, but never before would have believed that America was this rotten. The consequences of this will be dire, widespread, and long term.
