Why do all of these things make me feel old… I’m gen Z but heavily relate to gen x and millennial when people ask me “wtf does that mean?” and I just say “it was before your time.” Like wtf it was “before my time” too… idk I guess that’s the only benefit of being adopted by boomers.
It’s why I like Lemmy, it’s a safe space for Millennials and Gen X. Neither the boomers or yooths can figure out how to make an account without downloading it from the app store.
I hate to tell you, but Im pretty sure I’ve seen both of those gens on here
Gen Z here, after creating my mastodon account on an infosec instance and using that for a while, I found out about Lemmy and ditched reddit for good. So after registering on a smaller furry instance through my browser and trying a couple of different apps, I ended up here… not all of us are dumb ipad kids. Don’t get me wrong either, most of my generation are indeed a bunch of skibidi-brains… but there’s some hope anyways. I think. If we survive the civil unrest, climate change, the coming world war, and the general ignorance of the vast majority of our generation… ok maybe we are fucked. I guess we can thank the boomers together for that.
Gen Z are quite dumb. Some of them suggested me to modify my game engine to be able to be ran from a browser, I politely decline every time (I still need to move the rendering from the CPU to the GPU, since I figured out how to do retro pixel-perfect graphics, all with color lookup).
As a man in my 30s who enjoys VR, good god the kids torment me.
I came up with a decent reply. “Why are you on Oculus, old man?”
“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize a bunch of fucking toddlers made the Quest. I’m proud of you guys! I was under the impression that VR was mostly created by my generation, but it’s cool to see your elementary school science project took off like this. Congrats on your A+! You’re building the future.”
Usually shuts them up or makes them fumble and a few kids get on my side with it haha.
I’ve been the old sage sitting in the building in Pavlov Containers giving the youngins life advice. Always a wonderful experience when they aren’t bullying me or when I bump into a fellow old.
At 45, I can confidently say that that 30-year old brat is out of control.
