“All the third-party candidates combined receive just 12% of the Arab American vote. Instead, it’s Trump who is the beneficiary of the community’s anger and despair over the Biden Administration’s failure to prevent the unfolding genocide in Gaza,”

And Trump will surely benefit Palestinians and the Arab-American community. Here’s a snippet of what Trump has to say:

It’s a scorched earth mentality now. Both Democrats and Republicans, are allowing Israel to go full throttle on their genocidal campaign. If American politics is going to screw over Arabs, Arabs are going to screw over American politics.

I don’t think they care anymore. A lot of these people lost family members to Israel, and then their elected representatives announce that Israel is in the right. Minnesota has a Palestinian who lost 42 family members on a single Israeli aistrike. Then Walz, their governor, goes on national television and says Israel has a right to defend itself. They’re just numb to it all.

It’s how you punish your party in a two-party system

If abandoning Harris gets Trump elected, they will only be harming themselves. Trump wants to revoke their citizenship, detain them in concentration camps, and deport them.

Because they refuse to support a candidate who is calling for an immediate cease fire and a 2 state solution:

They know all that about Trump. They just don’t care anymore.

And Harris is not saying anything Biden isn’t saying either. And Israel is still going full throttle. So to them, there’s no change.

If that’s the case, they won’t get any sympathy from me if Trump wins because they’re really just screwing themselves.

Normally the reason this makes sense is - if the leading party that supports your side isn’t supporting it enough, going to the other side punishes your party. It’s an attempt to pressure your party into adopting a better position. And normally it works even if the other side’s position is even worse, since your party would listen and work to get the votes back in the next election. So under normal circumstances, this is a fair play.

What’s tough here is that there might not be another chance if Harris doesn’t win this election since Democracy itself is at stake. So these aren’t normal circumstances.
