This motherfucker is not currently an elected politician. Why the fuck is a civilian having meetings and making deals with foreign leaders? I was asking myself that when he met with Netanyahu.

It isn’t uncommon for a presidential candidate to meet with foreign leaders to discuss what may happen after they’re elected. In the case of Ukraine, they need to know what to expect in the event Trump is elected. They’re fighting a war, and it’d be a really bad idea to continue in ignorance.

He’s done plenty of bad and illegal things, but this is fairly normal.

I’m surprised Zelenskyy met with him at all. It’s hard for me to think of a reason why this wouldn’t be an aggravating waste of his time.

He has to.

Obviously Zelenskyy wants Kamala to win. That is the only real hope Ukraine has short of a civil war in russia (that will have knock on effects. But the race is still infuriatingly close. And trump liking Zelenskyy might be the difference between widespread ethnic cleansings and… just half of Ukraine getting genocided.

I guess that’s the pageantry of politics, but in more pragmatic terms it’s pretty clear where Trump falls. Zelenskyy specifically is on Trump’s shitlist because he didn’t play ball with his “dirt on the Bidens” scheme. And Trump is transparently compromised by Putin in one way or another, and is going to rule warmly in favor of Ukraine’s abuser no matter what.

Any other nuance or angle that could be worked is literally beyond Trump’s reasoning or memory. A waste of time.

Its not “politics”

It is leadership. The people of Ukraine aren’t idiots. They understand that a LOT of their military and intelligence support has come from the US and that a US that is opposed to that means a severe lack of resources and pressure against the rest of NATO to do the same.

Does anyone expect a “win” to come out of talks with trump? No. But it says a lot to have a leader who is willing to try to lessen the loss.

The Internet has a tendency to like to discuss things in a clinical and idealistic sorkin-esqe manner. That isn’t how life works. Sometimes you can’t save everyone but you can at least try to save some people.

Zelenskyy meeting with Trump is just Zelenskyy meeting with Putin with extra steps.

It’s unclear who’ll win the next US election. Zelensky wants support from whomever wins. Zelensky therefore has met with all the candidates who have a chance to win to try and bolster the chances of continued support.

In this case, Pootytang has developed the plan, so it probably exists. It would probably work out as well as Donnie’s previous master negotiations with terrorists.

It’s gonna feel great to vote and finally terminate his presidency, then watch the cult lose their minds, fracture and fade into oblivion (or prison).
