Tbh, I don’t see how gender identity can be benign in a world where we still see so much discrimination and hatred against such ideas, but I am glad it was in this persons household. Though even then, I am not sure if it’s truly ever “benign”, it’s part of one’s self actualization and therefore meaningful and impactful for the person experiencing it

These stories make me incredibly jealous lol. I love my mom for doing her best to understand me and accepting me as I am but it took months for her to process me being bi .(I live in a Third world country) I feel like we are a solid few decades behind whatever point these people are in.

My kids noticed physical extremes before anything. Of course they would have to point it out to me as loud as possible.

We were in the grocery store, and my three year old says, as loud as he can, “DAD! Look at that huge guy! He must eat A LOT of FOOD!”

Damnit, kid…

Once they’re teens, all parents become “bruh…”

That’s what this cis dad is called. Or at least this is how all sentences start in this house.

“Parent” works in formal settings, but it would be weird to have your kid call you that. Maybe just your name?

Why go with “parent” when the combination of “Mom” and “dad” gives you “mod”, “mad”, “dam” and “dom”?

I’m binary and I could go by mad several times per day, depending on how frustrated I get with them lol

I don’t think a kid calling their parent their “dom” would go over well 💀💀💀

It varies by person. Some use the word parent, some use mom or dad or both.

lol yeah, neither is gender expression even in an accepting society. I took benign in this case to mean like not family shattering, like it might be in conservative households
