12 year old account got permabanned for telling a Nazi off. But even before this happened I’ve noticed how much reddit has dropped off the last few years compared to when I discovered it.

Reddit is fucking dead. It’s like 40% Russian psyops trolls, 25% bots, 25% Nazi trolls, 5% users, and 5% admins looking for shit to ban people for

Remember back in 2022 when Russia disconnected from the global Internet? Reddit was great that day. The amount of trolls and devisive posts plummeted and discussions were much more civil. That was when I first started thinking about looking for a different place to hang out (I had been a pretty prolific reddit commenter). Then the stuff in spring 2023 happened and I found my way here, leaving Reddit for good. No regrets for sure.

Oh that was a golden day indeed. You were able to have a civil discussion with someone who disagreed with you and both of you had a pretty good time. Not only on Reddit but also on fucking YouTube!

Shows you how much Russia turnes anything it touches into pure shit.

Apart from the 5% users, don’t the rest all overlap entirely?

actually you can turn that 5% admin, to AI autobanning people, becauses thats been happening since janurary.

almost all the appeals were AI responses.

I had a 13 year old account I simply stopped using in 2023 when compact.reddit.com was killed and the API changes fees were introduced. Lemmy was “good enough” get to get what I was getting from reddit. I stopped using reddit and haven’t posted since.

I did the same, but kept the account, just never log into it.

Your data is still there for Reddit to monetize.

Overwrite all your old posts with a protest message. Wait a day. Repeat. Wait a week. Repeat. A month, repeat. Then delete shit. Going back to undelete a random post managed in this manner will be too costly for them.

Downside is that I have yet to find a script that actually catches everything. All the well-known scripts miss a lot, likely on account of their limitations.

I’d say the most recent major influences were the IPO and the emergence of LLMs.

Reddit becoming a publicly traded company and the preparation to do so certainly initiated a major shift in its priorities.

Ai and large language models make it easier than ever to create shiny, but low quality content.

And the rest is just reddit becoming more mainstream leading to an overall shift towards banal rather than niche topics.

i said they are following the facebook method, FB is now mostly AI using old accounts pushing right wing propaganda, i only see reddit will do the same eventually. or they try to look like a"both sides" type of site while allowing signicant astroturfing from russian trolls.

I suspect they have been tweaking the front page algorithms to bury niche posts. Niche subs that I already follow don’t seem to have changed, but r/popular and r/all have definitely lost their spark.

pushing r/conservatives, and any sub that talk about politics to the front was pretty obvious of the manipulation. Also the “baiting subs” like glowups, gym is there too.

I got a 3 day site wide ban for saying that without due process, these ICE guys are just racking up hundreds of kidnapping and trafficking charges in a sane world. The ban said I was threatening violence. I’m done with Reddit.

I figure they have AI chatbots making the decisions and it can’t term tell the difference between talking about violence and advocating for violence

It really seems like it. I had all my posts wiped for the night when I got banned. It bothered me that my posts in r/lockpicking got wiped after I made a post in /r/news. I just said ICE agents should be concerned with the amount of kidnapping and trafficking charges that they could see if sanity takes back over because it’s getting into the thousands. Mods said that was violent talk and I was banned. I’ll miss r/lockpicking. It was a fun community.

Considering that the US is a fascist dictatorship now, pigboy is a fascist, and r/conservative gets boosted to the front page, it’s likely a non trivial number of mods and admins are paid intelligence operatives acting on behalf of Russia, fascists/conservatives, and corporate lobbyists.

most of them use bots, the mods admitted to using those and they dint care if it gets random people or not(wether the context of the reporting was offensive or not), they believe it gets rid of them having to deal with it personally. i was looking at the modhelp, and help subs.

When I got banned for ‘promoting violence’ they said that the ai had flagged it, but a human had confirmed it. The humans are just as fucking clueless about context.

They want to be “Corporate Friendly.”

Criticize corporations, or Musk and Trump for a week, enjoy your permanent ban.

We’ll be here for you.
