Today I went to my local supermarket and was presented with the following brands of toothpaste:

  • Odol-med3 (Aquafresh): Haleon Group ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง
  • Sensodyne: Haleon Group ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง
  • Parodontax: Haleon Group ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง
  • Signal: Unilever ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง
  • elmex: Colgate-Palmolive ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
  • Meridol: Colgate-Palmolive ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
  • Colgate: Colgate-Palmolive ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
  • Blend-a-med: Procter & Gamble ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
  • Blend-a-dent: Procter & Gamble ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
  • Crest: Procter & Gamble ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
  • Lacalut: Dr. Theiss Naturwaren Gruppe ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช

You have a big illusion of choice, but in the end most known brands that can also afford advertising are big international groups. I ended up getting Lacalut, the one โ€œmade in germanyโ€, which cost double.

edit: apparently itโ€™s not a great choice for many reasons, so iโ€™ll be returning that product and try some of the other recommendations, thanks!

I buy the store brand of the drugstore (Rossmann): prokudent med. Itโ€™s the cheapest, itโ€™s made in Germany and itโ€™s free from sodium lauryl sulfate, which is known to cause Mouth ulcers.

I use this one which is the eco-line store brand of the German drug store DM.

A great alternative with less plastic are also these little dental cleaning tablets. They are basically dehydrated toothpaste. You just chew the tab and then brush your teeth as usual.

Ajona is being produced in Germany. Iโ€™ve been using it over twenty years and really like it. You need 10% of what you usually use with other brands (lentil size it says on the package) and it doesnโ€™t make you foam up like a rabid bunny.

Ajona

I saw this brand doing a bit of research for this post, but I donโ€™t remember seeing it before, it seems DM has many of the brands people like here, Netto doesnโ€™t offer nearly as much
