is it a coincidence that vader is derived from the german word for father?

Is that the case? It’s both written and pronounced differently

It is literally the word for “Father” in Dutch and in German there is just one letter difference ("Vater - “Vader”). It is pronounced differently, because it is a movie made for an american audience by an american director and writer.
