Summary

Trump claimed Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum agreed to “stop Migration through Mexico” after a call, declaring it a win for U.S. border security.

Sheinbaum quickly refuted this, stating Mexico opposes closing borders and prioritizes collaboration.

The exchange drew mockery online, with critics comparing it to Trump’s past unfulfilled claim that Mexico would pay for a border wall.

Social media users ridiculed Trump for exaggerating the conversation’s outcome and manufacturing a crisis with Mexico over proposed tariffs he’s vowed to implement upon taking office.

stating Mexico opposes closing borders

And yet, the Mexico-Guatemala Border is nearly entirely closed? I don’t support a closed border but that’s pretty hypocritical

To clarify, you need to go to specific check points just like the US-Mexico border. And you need specific documentation, just like the US-Mexico Border

Then it’s not a closed border right? Like the Us / Mexico one isn’t.

The notion that Trump and his ilk are conflating two ideas in the news - intentionally or moronically - for PR benefits, shouldn’t be surprising so much as just continuing the trend.

So it’s not closed? A closed border would not allow any (legal) crossings.
