Summary

In Wayne County, Arab American precincts rejected Kamala Harris, with Biden receiving 82% of the vote in 2020 and Harris only 23% in 2024.

Trump’s outreach to Arab American and Muslim communities, including visits to Dearborn and Hamtramck, contributed to his increased support.

Harris’s performance in Dearborn, where she received only 13% of the vote in the south end, reflects the backlash against Biden’s handling of foreign policy in the Middle East.

they only care about themselves, and their misguided belief that they are ‘doing the right thing’ and ‘paying back’ biden.

if they cared at all about gaza, about the west bank, about palestine and its people, they would have come out in force, and in support of democrats from coast to coast. anything to prevent another trump presidency.

trump was never on their side and will let israel do whatever they want.

just like he’ll let russia do whatever they want and ukraine will cease to exist. protest votes, like those in michigan, helped doom ukraine, too.

Agreed on all but one point:

Ukraine won’t cease to exist. They’ll just fulfill their threat to execute a crash nuclear weapons development program, if that truly becomes their only option.

In support of, (checks notes) … The woman who never meaningfully distanced herself from Biden’s policy of funding the Genocide of their families.

Yeah. Super shocked. Super.

Well at least they can complain altogether when Trump reports them all.

Stupid fucking people.

Mask drops and the liberal becomes racist when the race in question doesn’t vote for their party. Classic. It’s so classic that I can show you a song from 1966 singing it

Harris refused to take a stand against Israel so why should they vote for her?

Why are they selfish? Because they didn’t vote how YOU wanted? Who’s being selfish here?

Oh yea, because Trump’s definitely gonna take a stand against Israel and TOTALLY won’t give them a blank check and encourage genocide. Nope.

At least we didn’t give that blUe MagA the Trifecta! We did it Lemmy!

They didn’t vote for trump. They didn’t vote. Both sides promised to continue the genocide. That’s pretty fair.

And yet Trump was the man Netanyahu wanted. Why in the world wouldn’t that be their sign. Oh, I guess to be fair it doesn’t rhyme, so it was probably hard for you guys to understand.

Too many people in this thread think they know better about the average voter. Most Americans don’t actually give a shit about politics. It’s getting them to care is the problem. Most people in the USA are too fucking stupid for their own good. Most of the people in this thread are too sensitive to realize they are part of the problem. Arab Americans aren’t directly responsible for Trump’s win but they contributed to it by holding out their votes on a single issue. If both candidates were literally the same as each other besides their stance on Gaza then I can see the logic of not voting for one over the other or abstaining. This was not the case. Most of you trying to act like Harris should have come out and promise to personally stop the genocide don’t realize that the Jewish population in America controls more money, power and influence than the Arab vote. So both sides are going to go out of their way to support Israel. You pearl clutchers don’t get this.

That’s a roundabout way to say you consider them selfish for not voting for a candidate they believe will keep the genocide of their relatives going.

This is the thing I can stand least about liberals. They’re the smartest, most moral people in the world and anyone who doesn’t vote their way for any reason is stupid and bad

“Voting 3rd party or sitting out during the election basically cedes the election to one of two parties. We should at least choose the party that has a better chance to be swayed against genocide than the one who openly advocates for the genociders to ‘finish the job’”

“L1b3RaL!!1!a”

I’m not saying liberals are the smartest and most moral people, they definitely aren’t. But dismissing reality of the American political system and the almost certain likelihood of the US presidential election to vote for neither of the two main parties and expecting something good to come out of it is pretty telling to one’s critical thinking skills.

Harris could’ve fixed that by promising not to blow up Palestine. This is purely on her and Biden for being unelectable, not on people refusing to vote for someone who will wipe them out

Man I totally forgot Trump is actually a peace loving, human-rights respecting person and totally won’t give Israel a blank check. Can’t wait for the news article about how Trump’s totally gonna get Israel to stop!

Good thing we didn’t vote in BlUe MagA right guys?

I’m afraid these guys are incapable of complex morale situations, not understanding how the lines are blurred in most situations. They just want everything to be good or bad, nothing in between.

You know people voted for candidates other than Harris and trump right? Like Arab americans voting for 3rd party candidates that haven’t promised to wipe out Gaza?

So allow the candidate to supercharge the extermination to win? That’s one helluva strategy. Certainly one way to try and shift the blame to one side when there’s plenty to go around for both dems and the uncommitted

Yet you only ever complain about how “the uncommitted” are the problem, and never dems 🤔

I’ll feel bad, along with when they come for all the other immigrant groups who voted for Trump, and eventually for the rest of us.

Now is the time to build coalitions, and work together to confront what is coming.

We keep talking about how to “get through” to voters…

Well, cold reality is a very effective tool, and many people will be regretting their choices in the coming days. We’d be stupid to turn them away instead of showing them we believe in the same core values.
