Just to add some details: Andrew Sheps seems to have preferred the 1176AE due to its sound and the availability of a 2:1 ratio, with an attack of about 0.8 ms (i.e. pretty slow for a FET) and a release of about 50 ms (relative fast), 6-10 dB reduction, mixed in to taste.

Oversampling within the plugin in general shouldn’t kill the transients, though. E.g. you shouldn’t lose the punch just by oversampling the EQ to prevent it from cramping.

Oversampling in the plugins shouldn’t have a drastic effect on transients, while oversampling the whole chain could. You might want to watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jCwIsT0X8M

Nothing wrong with it unless you hate faith/catholicism.

Don’t think so. It tells everyone not believing in God that they don’t belong to “we”.
