Huh, that’s an interesting idea. I’ve heard of using the book as a cypher before but I always thought an issue was keeping track of the exact copy of the book. Using a digital copy makes a lot of sense for that, thanks!

Is the deposit box expensive? Do you find it worth it?

Yeah seems like sandisk ultra is the way to go. Do you know, is there any disadvantage to using the “Ultra Fit” line of smaller drives that sit much more flush to the case? Those look nice, but IDK if there are performance issues with the smaller package

I’ve thought about that before, I’ve used proxmox in the past and liked it. The hope I guess would be that proxmox is better able to handle the physical hardware than Unraid is, and the Unraid can blissfully mismanage it’s vCPUs all it wants! I don’t love the overhead of having a hypervisor, but maybe it would be worth it in this case.

I would, and I plan to someday, but my whole storage system is setup on it and migrating would be an enormous pain. Also right now I rely on it’s ability to create a RAID array with differently sized drives. Next time I upgrade, I plan go get homogeneous drives, so maybe then would be the time to move away from Unraid.

I’ve been doing typelit.io and typing out a whole book, which I think is helping since it’s a more realistic typing scenario. I’d love to see your layout if you’re willing to share, I’m always interested in seeing peoples’ different approaches.

I was at about 80 WPM before I’d say. In the beginning and when I first made this post I was putting in at least an hour of practice every day. After this post I hit a wall the practice stopped yielding as much improvement which hurt my motivation. I’m still sticking with it though, and since 60 is fast enough to work without issue, I figure my speed will improve naturally over time.

I’m still enjoying the journey, and I’ve been having fun getting function layers working and trying to work my way towards eliminating keys!

Thanks, I think those early speed gains were exciting so I wanted to keep that up but it’s not totally realistic. Doing day-to-day stuff and building speed over time makes sense though.
