You shut your mouth, the 90s were definitely like 10 years ago right?! :P

Wow, I haven’t heard the term ‘script kiddie’ since I used to hang out on alter.net/#hack on IRC back in the 90s.

No, DOGE is about dismantling/looting the parts of government that are capable of regulating and taxing oligarchs in the name of ‘saving money.’ If they somehow do actually save any money (and with the recent removal of most of their ‘successes’ from the website even that is heavily debatable) it will just go into more tax breaks for the rich.

Data harvesting is just part of the looting, but it’s gravy, not the main course.

There are 2 reasons here.

  1. Science. There’s a lot of science to be done up there, and robots can really only manage a few experiments at a time. Humans are general-purpose robots who can adapt and improvise and manage lots of different projects at the same time.
  2. Exploration/inspiration. I think a big part of this is an attempt to rekindle interest in space exploration/science in general. ‘Hey, a robot found some neat stuff on the moon’ is interesting, but ‘Hey there are people living up there and they’ve found some neat stuff on the moon’ is a lot more engaging and inspirational.

Sounds like a scam to me, ‘cause all downloads are at ‘the best of your internet speed’ unless you’re doing something on your end to throttle it. Reminds me of the bullshit ‘Monster Cable’ thing from the early 2000s, it was basically an expensive ethernet cable that purported to somehow increase your internet speeds. Yeah, bad ethernet cables can reduce your internet speed, but only over longer runs (unless the shielding is visibly damaged or whatever), but this thing was only 6’ long so it was just a regular ass cat5 cable with a fancy paint-job that costs twice what a regular old 6’ patch cable would. This seems like the bullshit software version of that.

Yup. I’m fortunate that I don’t have that gene or whatever it is, I love cilantro.

I eat celery and peas, I like scallions in certain dishes, I get pickles and lettuce on my burgers or sandwiches… I’m eating plenty of green stuff, just not that green stuff. I’ve never tried zucchini tho, will have to check that out.

That was in fact my point, yes, that capitalism needed to be replaced with something that isn’t blowing up on the regular. But that’s not very likely to happen until it blows all the way up and the ‘silent majority’ who are content and propagandized into inactivity discover just how fucked they are and are forced to wake up.

You were effectively saying ‘we can’t change big stuff’, and then I provided an example of a big thing we changed because we decided to. My point, then, is: sure we can, we do all the time. We won’t because we’re all addicted to cheap goods and outsourced labor and shit, but won’t is a fair distance from can’t.

Celery I don’t mind, it’s just pretty bland without PB or cheese or w/e. I think you’re thinking of cilantro though, and… probably a combination of nature and nurture; I’m sure if I ate more of those foods as a kid I would like them more too. shrug
