Not surprised. They’re not doing it out of some newfound sympathy for the plight of working folks, but because even they recognize that the chaos and instability Trump brings is bad for business.

Harris was widely seen as having performed better yesterday.

Hell of an understatement.

Oregonian, here. Yeah, we’ve got our loonies on this issue. Bunch of people convinced that the MMR vaccine causes autism because of that murderous fucker Andrew Wakefield.

So here are my thoughts:

  • First, the obvious: Harris won handily. She was in her element, and just thoroughly excoriated Trump at every turn, while maintaining an optimistic tone.
  • But at the same time, Trump is probably not losing any of his base over his abysmal performance. Most of them probably didn’t watch, and the few that did probably tuned out in favor of reading conservative bloggers’ desperate spinning about halfway through.
  • The real question is how off-putting he’s been for undecideds. He was pretty bad, but I’m aware enough of my own biases to wonder exactly how bad his behavior looks to undecideds.
  • On the issues, Harris didn’t really have a stumble. I was pleasantly surprised by how well she handled the issue of Israel/Palestine, for example.
  • The moderators get a B for following up questions, a C- for mic handling, and an A- for calling it out when Trump’s bizarre, rambling bullshit failed to even vaguely resemble an answer.

All in all, I didn’t hate this (other than the sound of Trump’s face hole).

Of all the things I’m not surprised by, this is one of them. The fact that a Republican accepts bribes from Vladimir Putin ought to be immensely shocking, but the last ten years have utterly destroyed my capacity to be shocked by these people.

Assuming this country survives, history books looking back at this era are going to be fucking wild.

Microsoft has become such a bizarre company. On the one hand, it’s trying to be super developer-friendly, with tools like Typescript, VS Code, and DotNet Core being easy to use and multi-platform. On the other hand, they seem hell-bent on making Windows itself - their bread-and-butter offering - as hard to use and annoying as possible.

It just doesn’t make any sense.

“I have the concepts of a plan. I’m not president right now!”

Holy shit, dude. You biffed that one hard.

I strongly suspect most of the people pushing that particular line aren’t eligible to vote… in American elections, that is.
