Will Fleet be open source?

We are considering open sourcing parts of the product or the technology behind it. Stay tuned for details in the coming months.

open core non-commercial use… I would only use it if I had to… GNU Emacs still is the best.

Fleet is mainly written in Kotlin, which means it runs on the JVM. The UI framework is a home-grown solution using Skia (via Skiko). For those of you wondering why we didn’t use Compose Multiplatform: we started working on Fleet when Compose Multiplatform wasn’t available yet.

Furthermore, Fleet uses Rust for the Fleet System Agent, which is a process that runs on the target machine. It is used to build the project, run code, execute terminal commands, and perform other actions in the target environment on behalf of Fleet.

They are too invested on the JVM already… Webasembly ftw

databases space (mainly NoSQL and hybrid) is still very proprietary. Only SQL you’re guaranteed with PostgreSQL. Source availabe is not the same as free software.

Thus, the entire property insurance world have had economists working every angle for decades now. Do you know the saying: “The casino always wins”? From what I’ve seen/heard inside the insurance agencies, they are going to make a fortune from the devastation caused by the effects of climate change.

Fucking insurance industry scam. I would love to see it banned. Anyway, that is why sometimes I think not a “democracy” but only something like China would be able to enforce such a change (I know they won’t really do that because economy/capitalism…). US the worst of all this; the heart of capitalism.

Done that. But important free software projects won’t, which forces to keep using it.
