Because the possibility of being somewhere without my phone is a lot lower compared to being without my Yubikey.

You know far-right political parties are on the rise in times of economical hardships. And now you have pretty much good conditions for such parties to thrive. The cost of living is increasing every day, the middle class is getting squeezed and their disposable income is getting lower, rents and real estate prices are almost at historic heights.

In such times people are desperately looking for a scapegoat and someone to blame, and those parties are giving them exactly that. They have always been in the opposition, so they feel they are guilt free for the current situation. And people being the irrational beings they are, are looking for a saviour in such “alternative” parties.

I wish there was a way for normal Israelis to get the same treatment as Gazans so that they have finally seen what is the real root cause of the problem.

The media is extremely opionated and show predominantly the human side of the Israelis and there are almost no stories about the horror in Gaza. That’s not exactly independent media.

Maybe check some options with Intel N300/305. To be honest I don’t know how good Intel Quicksync is, so you might need an external GPU as well. You also need a power efficient DC PSU at low wattage.

It is also important what components you put inside, like low-end SSDs have the lowest power consumption and maybe are your best bet. I would also recommend you buying a 5400rpm power efficient HDD if you need it. Disabling all unnecessary ports in the bios can also help lower your power consumption and tweaking the power limits of the C-states, and enabling C10.

My suggestion is first try to play a bit with your current server BIOS settings and the power optimization in Linux. If your power consumption at full load is like 90-100, maybe consider swapping your current PSU with a DC one, as they have superior power efficiency and after each change evaluate the performance and the power consumption both on idle and on 100%.

Keep in mind that RPI is good for containers, but not for virtualisation, so if you want to run some VMs or have proper expandability I would advise you against RPI.

Plus disabling the ports won’t make a big difference I presume, a couple of Watts at best.

I recently bought an N100 powered firewall appliance and the idle consumption is around 13 Watts, with two SSDs and 32Gb of RAM, a bunch of USB and video ports and 4x2.5Gbps ports all switched on. People are even reporting that this can be pushed down to 7-8W, comparable to what you would get with RPI.

The i3-N305 has 8 physical cores and TDP of 15Watts, which can easily be reduced to around 9-10.

Ha, where are those in Germany? The only thing we got was a one time inflation bonus and that was it.

Isn’t inflation like a godsend to companies? They can use it as a pretext to increase their prices but also as an excuse not to give their employees decent pay rises, because you know inflation spirals, difficult times, etc. bullshit.

In the end they increase their profit margins at the expense of their employees and the CEO gets a hefty bonus package for his “good” work.

We definitely need more affordable EVs with a modern infotainment system, not something designed in the early 2000 by students

If only those trains were reliable and actually affordable? Personally I prefer taking trains but the prices sometimes are ridiculously high, and then the chances that you end up with a huge delay or you miss your connection can be quite high depending on the country you are living in.

Plus not all trains are electrified, there are quite a lot of diesel trains and I think even if they are electrified the losses on transferring electricity over their lines is pretty big. I am not in favour of using a car, just giving you some perspective.

Actually not all cars cost 100K and a trip of 400-500 km is 120-130€ per passenger, multiply this by three or four, for families then add to the equation the hassle with luggage, logistics, eventual train delays, etc.

Again I also prefer trains as I really don’t enjoy driving but sometimes having a car is easier and more convenient. Plus you can get a perfectly capable car for 10-15K
