What’s funny is this really illustrates why intellectual property and indeed capitalism could only ever be a failure…

The whole system is predicated on being slightly better at getting something done and then holding on to that advantage forever through secrecy and legal protection instead of trying to improve.

If there were no intellectual property, if everything were completely open, then the competition wouldn’t be about trying to hold on to a single advancement for as long as possible, instead it would be about competing to create better systems that continually bring more and more advancements.

I don’t understand why youtube-dl is targeted so much in search results. YouTube keeps changing their scripts so that it has only worked about 1 week per month for the last 5 years. And that’s when they push an update within a month. Sometimes it’s as long as 90 days that the thing doesn’t work.

Stuff like this just proves Amazon knows absolutely nothing about automation. If you are trying to treat humans like machines, you’re doing it wrong. You couldn’t be doing it more wrong.

Agreed. Especially when you consider that even fictional general AIs centuries more advanced than we are capable of making, such as Data or Isaac, aren’t clearly shown to actually have what we call a soul, even if they’re really good at emulating people.
