No one is going to feed you content. It’s a different way to think and consume media. You just gotta start following people or hashtags and see which content and people are posting things that interest you. Go the the local feed of the instance of the world feed and watch things unfold.

But you gotta bootstrap it. There’s a lot of interesting people and content in it.

There’s a few sites that help with discovery by listing relevant people and topics.

There’s hashtags important to follow at the start, for example #fediverseMigration where lots of posts trying to help new people and guiding them appear.

I know it may hurt a little at the beginning, but it’s so worth it and rewarding. So, don’t quit and give it a little bit to grow on you. It’s a new experience so not everything will feel similar to what one knows previously.

And, the amazing thing that on mastodon one being able to directly interact and comment on lemmy posts is just mind-blowing.

So. Good luck. And Thanks for all the fish.

I think it’s a feature of some tilling window managers that allow to put each virtual desktop assigned to each different monitors. So instead of the normal thing where when connecting an external monitor it extends the area of the virtual desktop, you could have the virtual 1 on the laptop monitor and the external with the desktop 2, so you could easily switch desktops that could have different windows, for example changing laptop monitor to virtual desktop 3 and keep external monitor with desktop 2.

I’ve never used it, but after hearing about this for the first time some time ago it made so much fucking sense compared to the chaotic way that normal window managers behave that I really want to experiment with it.

Assuming that I’m describing this correctly.

I’d be ok with a credit card verification or so something like that, even if still uncomfortable for me, but I hear it reduces a lot of spam.

But then that would make people confused and make them run away when the app seems to be free and now is asking for a credit card validation… it’s too strange.

Anyway I never got a single spam message on signal from all the years I use it, so not sure how others view the problem or even if it is a problem.

I’m pretty sure the poor vs rich is very wrong. And catholic correlates to homophobic which is also wrong.

Olive oil, coffee and tomato at least checks out.

I’m pretty sure I still pay all the renewable energy I consume at home. I wish the bill was zero, that would be amazing.

The fact that people think they need a water bottle in school is crazy weird.

It really is weird. I guess from other comments that this is something about those fancy and expensive fridges that no normal people have with water dispenser on the door and ice sometimes… Maybe?
