Literally just don’t subscribe to that instance and you won’t see their posts.

Also mildly infuriating posting Redditor behavior to Lemmy

Dropping performance demanding features for low spec hardware sounds like a pretty reasonable solution, no scare quotes.

It’s been downhill since Windows 7. I think this will be my last Windows PC.

I just don’t feel safe with Windows that next time I boot up there won’t be some fresh horror I didn’t ask for and have to go research how to put back in the bottle.

It’s like having your computer pre-rooted with malware.

If it’s not RT OS, you have no guarantees. The OS may preempt your function at any time to run a different thread.

Real-time processes on commodity OSs use buffers. When the buffer runs out you get dropped frames or whatever.

Writing your own FFT or something?

If your function gets called every 40ms, design it so that it normally completes in 20ms and use a buffer of a couple batches. Should work fine unless some other process monopolizes all the cores.

edit: I noticed you need data from external sources with high latency. You need to put the data read in it’s own thread so that processing current data doesn’t get held up by latency reading new data.

The promise of WikiLeaks was exposure of wrongdoing, anywhere. Assange ran it as his personal score-settling service to help Russia.

Small man wants to run his own personal foreign policy he can rot in prison for all I care.

Laptops predate cell phones in mainstream use. When laptops started, there were a variety of battery types in use with no standard charging voltage so Wh was the fair way to compare.

Cell phones have pretty much always been 3.7v lithium so mAh is a fair comparison and gives a bigger number than Wh.
