Cinephile and self-styled movie reviewer. On here, I mostly talk about #movies and related topics, and post links to my #MovieReviews.

I track everything I watch on my Letterboxd, and try to write something about each thing (sometimes very belatedly). Feel free to follow me!

I boost most #LetterboxdFriday posts I see, just because I love the community aspect, regardless of whether I agree with your ratings.

@Blaze It comes out of nowhere, and its only narrative purpose is to further brutalize Joe. I’m pretty sure I see the point von Trierwas going for, but that nothing hints at it in the lead up makes it land more like hollow shock factor than disturbingly poignant.

It’s even more of an issue as Seligman is the rare explicit asexual character, and his action plays into the harmful idea that asexuals are just lying about their sexuality.

@original_reader I feel like no one talks about Deerskin, which was an excellent low-key comedy/horror/satire/weird-ass film from a few years back.

@UKFilmNerd It’s crazy how badly the projections have been missing opening weekend hauls over the past two months. It seems that since Bad Boys, they’ve undershot every blockbuster by a significant amount.

@reef We got about 50 or 55 minutes into “The Girl on the Train” before we realized it was weird Emily Blunt hadn’t shown up yet. And all the actors were Indian.

That was when we learned there was a Hindi-language remake.
