Same. I have Mexican neighbors who don’t even know what’s going on. We are 41 miles from the border; ICE is harassing anyone (even at a nearby HS) browner than vanilla ice cream; people have been disappeared already. Ignorance may be bliss, but that bliss can be made to come to a dramatic end.

The country that makes it illegal to be homeless. Sorry. How can THAT be, well, legal?! It’s like making it illegal to have asthma. Noone CHOOSES homelessness, FFS, anymore than anyone chooses asthma. This country makes me sick.

We are fat, lazy, and afraid of ignorant. Doesn’t help that the country is so friggin huge, too. But it does make me fearful. Seems quite possible we have waited too long.

Hmmm. I think it is potentially very off-putting to use phrases like “you’re angry at…”, and "you’ve been taught…’ It smacks of us telling them what they think and has that very quality of knowingness that these folks find such a turn off. I think we could turn to cult de programmers for advice on how to approach them
