Yep, same here, including colleagues in security. “You haven’t claimed your giftcard yet, log in here…”. Some were ‘smart’ enough to forward the link home and open it there (no direct internet access from the desktop) and the organizers of the test canceled the test as it was such a great success. (Almost everybody failed) Alas they killed the test before the email arrived in my mailbox, as I would have loved to see it. ;)

I love custom roms and even developed for CyanogenMod and LineageOS. However, that was for Samsung, Nokia and Motorola. Those roms have loads of bloatware. The Pixel has no or little bloatware.

When going without Google, custom rom and f-droid is the way to go. With gapps, the advantage will be that you get longer updates, as custom roms usually get more updates. That is, as long as somebody is interested in the device and developing for it.

Also, when rooting, the official roms usually refuse to update, a problem that doesn’t exist with custom roms.

You could build something that prevents people from being offended. Let them answer simple questions like are you offenden by . If they answer yes, no allowed to join.

I get the feeling that more and more snowflakes are easily offended and the nastiness is partly trolling as they like to offend. (and sometimes the offended like to be offended)

Maybe the only solution is sulfuric acid. (or alcohol)

Make it impossible for people to use it?

Wherever there are people, there will be nastiness. No matter the reason, some are jerks just because they can.

Thanks, I found K9 on F-droid. I used that years ago, no clue why I switched…

Now to find a foss alternative for Business Calendar that works on Android 13. Calendar specific notification sounds are great, but not when they are played hours after the scheduled item.

To be honest, not.

  1. my employer gives apple mobiles out
  2. anything usefull can’t be done on those small screens
  3. screens that are large enough to show anything useful aren’t portable
  4. when I’m out of the office/not working from home, I’m not available for work, so I don’t need to use android for productivity

Privately, I have an email client for emergencies (used aqua, but with the subscription junk now introduced, looking for a good FOSS alternative) and a calendar which I need to check more. That’s about it peoductivity wise.

I see loads of posts that ad blockers stopped working on youtube. However, I still have no ads there. I’m running vivaldi with ublock on Linux and Vivaldi with minminguard on Android (EU based).

Is this a firefox issue, US only,…?

“Survival of the fittest” when used to indicate the stongest should survive. Instead of the one best suited for (fitting) the situation.
