Whatever the technical reasons or not (and I treasure my original printing copy of the TNG Technical Manual too), my take in the Lower Decks tasking is that it falls in the toothbrush-to-clean-grout category of character-building tasks for junior officers.
It seems that many Star Trek authors, writers, and producers etc. set up Mastodon accounts when then expected to be leaving Twitter.
Some of those accounts are being kept semi active but don’t have active followers. I understand that following a Mastodon account from Lemmy isn’t as feasible as the other way. I’m wondering if those members might be more active if they knew there was a community here that’s interested to engage.
All to say that it would be great if
— we could have guidance on how to follow them from here if possible (rather than creating separate Mastodon accounts;
—the mods here could message them to let them know there’s a new and active community here interested to engage.
Adding to the fun with TrekCore’s screencap-laden breakdown.
I defy folks here not to howl with laughter.
This made my afternoon.
https://sh.itjust.works/c/tabletop_hobby is another community for miniature gamers.
Like the one on kbin, it doesn’t have traction yet. But these hobby communities need profile to get found, add members and take off.
This one https://lemmy.world/c/ww2wargaming has a mix of posts about painting miniatures and terrain as well as the games themselves.
A worsted is a bit finer than an Aran, heavier than a DK.
Knitting with worsted normally gives 20 stitches per 10 cm/4in in stocking stitch. Aran would give 18, DK 22.
With crochet, the hook size and stitch type will make a huge difference. If you use the stated hook with a worsted instead of an Aran weight you’ll have a more open fabric. That may be what you want, especially with a cotton.
Best advice to give is to do a sample of at least 15 by 15 cm / 6 x 6 inches. That will give you a benchmark of the stitch size, the amount of yarn used and the stiffness or drape of the fabric you’re creating.
Google is wrong. Aran is a thicker yarn on average. Worsted is between DK and Aran.
Here’s just the top of the yarn menu from Canada’s largest wool independent store. Wool-Tyme. As we get EU, and UK yarn as well as US, the full range is represented.
Suggest that the OP look through their sizes to see what UK yarns fall under ‘worsted.’
Experienced it.
The curse is likely based on the item being too much pressure on a relationship that’s not ready for it.
If you’re a really experienced and fast knitter that’s regularly knocking of sweaters for yourself and perhaps have done small ones as gifts for friends kids, it wouldn’t be the same.
But if you’re looking for love to motivate you through your first big project, it’s a disaster waiting to happen. All the more so if you’re toting your project with you and knitting in public.
