Bit-breaker working in cybersecurity/IT. Only languages I know are English and Programming ones.

Sometimes I write things about technology.

If I told you the SHA256 for this sentence starts with 'c, 5, four, a, and a', would you believe me?

I use a third party app on my phone, and old.reddit on the desktop. Never could get used to ‘new’ and don’t like how the screen real estate is on it. Ad block for the home network AND Ublock Origin on mobile and desktop are a must have for me.

Yes; configuration settings for the web server involving improving performance. Those settings have been changed back to the previous, non-issue ones. So this should not occur at this time, or again.

Was a result of too much fiddling. Attempting to gain even better performance from a bottleneck issue due to recent user influx. It was not an error in the Lemmy instance or Lemmy-UI but rather the web server front-end misconfiguration.

By TUI do you mean VI/M? Or something like helix or slap??

VI is usually on 99% of the time on any Linux system. That’s why I use VIM, to ensure I know what to do for editing and how to do it at a basic level. I mean personally I have a bunch of config settings and plugins, but I an do basic tasks with VI and feel comfortable. I believe that is important for a Linux admin.

Same as Reddit; it’s network affect. There are different applications out there for various purposes that work better/nicer than Discord. But not enough people are using them so everyone goes where everyone else is at.

unrealistic expectations on GItHub project: 1) "high performance

For sure. That seems to be the go to phrase for anything developed in Rust. By itself, Rust isn’t any safer or faster than another similar language; it takes a good developer to make it work well.

Just because it’s written in Rust doesn’t make your app safe, or performant. Just like because your app is written in C, doesn’t mean it’s buggy and insecure.
