H265 is objectively superior in just about every way UNLESS you’re trying to play it on hardware that doesn’t support it. The only reason to use H264 is for broad compatibility.

Hmmm it’s using a spoiler tag to hide the summary until you click. Spoiler tags work for me on desktop, but they don’t seem to work in Lemmy apps like Connect or Liftoff. It does work in Jerboa, however.

Yes! I love that it hides the summary now until you click to expand. That way it doesn’t needlessly take up space unless you want it to.

All of your mobile traffic goes through your carrier. Assume that none of it is private, unless you’re taking privacy measures like a trusted VPN.

I don’t see how an eSIM is any worse than a SIM.

If it’s a work laptop, treat it like it has tracking software on it. Don’t use your work computer for personal stuff that you don’t want your employer to see. Period.

Your drive speed might be the limiting factor here, not your processor.

This right here. We are undoubtedly the plastic generation. And it’s not letting up any time soon; our kids will be included in this cohort as well. Banning plastic bags in cities is next to useless when everything we eat, everything we drink, and everything we buy is wrapped in plastic.

It should be noted that this is advice specific to white men in Western countries 😆 but yes, it’s true.

Sounds like your TV isn’t fully compatible with x265. You can get around that by using a modern streaming stick that supports it.
