Sure but then it’s a question of convenience. You have to set up the VPN and make sure you don’t use peertube without it because the last thing you want is to realize that you torrented videos for 30 minutes and you VPN client wasn’t running probably. Also you have to pay for a good VPN service and could potentially have lower bandwith.
On the other hand Youtube is free and perfectly legal
I like the idea of peertube and hopefully it’ll be the future with more and more bandwith being available but the risk of ending in jail right now is too high in my country.
If you get fined for downloading a movie it would be a relatively small amount of money I’d say not more than 200 € but if you torrented a movie you are now fined as a distributor and the 200 € will get multiplied by the amount of people you potentially shared the movie with and that’s a shitload of money.
I could be wrong in some details because torrenting died about a decade ago in my country but in the end the risk of getting sued for xx,xxx € is not worth it. And if I understood the peertube system right, I would be torrenting every video I watched and couldn’t know if I am violation the law

Naja, es ist vielleicht nicht kompliziert, aber dafür unübersichtlicher. Am Anfang sucht man sich erstmal seine Communities und sieht dann “Aha, es gibt also randomsub@feddit.de, aber auch randomsub@beehaw.com und randomsub@kbin.social”. Welches ist nun das richtige? Vielleicht das, was die meisten User hat, leider lässt sich das schlecht erkennen, weil ich nur die Abonennten meiner eigenen Instanz sehen kann.
Nun gut, dann abonniere ich eben alle drei, ist ja kein Thema. Ach, ich kann nicht einfach auf den Abo-Button klicken, sondern muss den Link !randomsub@beehaw.com kopieren und in das Suchfeld meiner Heimatinstanz eintragen?
Das alles ist nicht kompliziert, aber ich habe nach der anfänglichen Einrichtung wenig Lust, weitere Communities zu suchen und gerade in dieser Zeit, wo alles darauf ausgelegt ist, den potentiellen Nutzern möglichst wenig Hürden in den Weg zu legen, wird man damit auf wenig Gegenliebe stoßen
I’m looking forward to playing D4 but I’ll wait till the first DLC get’s released and Blizzards offers a cheap bundle, so maybe in 2 to 3 years. Then we’ll also know how much the MTX affect the game.
In the mean time there are enough other great games waiting to be played. I haven’t started the Mass Effect trilogy but heard good things about it, also in about 2 months Baldurs Gate 3 will be released and I am thinking about playing the remastered versions of 1 and 2 before
