The original person’s comment made sense up until about the 2010s if it was referring to ‘smartphones’. Smartphones are extremely accessible to someone who is destitute today comparative to 15 years ago.
Most phone providers in the US at least, have programs where when you register a single line, you usually get either a basic “razor-esque” smartphone, or in some cases even the newest apple or Samsung line, because it costs them pennies to provide, but they profit off the recurring contract income.
Back in 2008, the only way you were getting the newest smartphone was if you had $500-1k in disposable income. But cell phones in general have been an inexpensive commodity since at least 2000.
As someone who has handled federal contracts providing cctv equipment like the ones mentioned; the odds of those specific cameras “malfunctioning” at the specific time-whatever that is even supposed to mean- is essentially zero.
They are hardwired on a constantly updated and maintained basis. I’m talking millions of dollars a year. If the camera had gone offline, there would more than certainly be a visible and audible alert to the persons monitoring the feeds on premisis which all federal and state prisons are legally required to have.
Even if he “killed himself”, there’s no question there was someone intentionally forcing the hand.
It’s true that in the situation and country, this is equivalent to someone fleeing a traffic stop when they remember they have warrants. Authority figure gonna do what they’re enlisted to do, because it’s their perogative and their “duty” (and I mean duty in the sense of being bound to their personal theology)
But yet, would either of those situations would cause said authority to use deadly force? Of course not.
Iran is a back asswards country. The US is shit in its own ways as well, I won’t refute, it’s a mess. But Iran has to literally be babysat by larger economic powers around the clock to keep them from cooking up doomsday doodads.
Getting this bent out of shape over women wanted to drive, get a proper education, vote, or fucking not wearing a piece of cloth, just furthers the sentiment that somewhere along the male Iranian genealogy some chromosomes got lost.
(Side note, I don’t reread these so I apologize if anything sounds purposefully directed at specific groups. I harbor no hate towards the Iranian peoples, all hate is meant to be interpreted to whatever zealots churn up all this religious hoo-hah)
A hypothetical version of myself may have worked in an International Airport as a security lead. That hypothetical version would have to pass through general passenger TSA and Border checkpoint dozens of times a day. They also may have always been carrying dab pens on him and his coworkers might have on several occasions just carried handguns through that they might have forgotten on their persons.
Yeah Airports are to security as Ant traps are to an exterminator. Lotta smoke and mirrors. Most cameras are non functioning or just straight up not wired in the first place.
Didn’t get tricked myself, but rather my parents did by buying into the religious zealotry and claimed “pocket monsters are demonic” and throwing away my whole collection after listening to another parent.
This was all pre 2010 so basically had the golden era of cards en masse. Like binders and binders of holos. The few key cards I remember, looked up on TCG the other week. $4-500 per card for some of my over collected sets.
