He is doing better than Moe and Smith, Saskatchewan’s DUI hire is going down to the states to party with some Texas delegation.

He talks tough, but doesn’t actually do much except remove US alcohol from the shelves.

He has not been vacationing in the states off and on for the past two months has he? Moe-ron has been.

I keep saying it: Ford is playing the though guy but will be the first to surrender in exchange for a position in the fascist show. We cannot trust conservatives.

The US agreed to actually discuss the situation and potentially come to an agreement. Because of that upcoming discussion we’ll delay adding an additional 25% (though the original 25% will remain in place for now). Should that discussion not go well, we’ll just continue with the plan to impose more tariffs.

Sounds reasonable to me. None of us want this trade war. If you’re willing to negotiate an end, we’ll hear you out. That doesn’t mean we’re going to back down.

You can’t trust Trump with any deal. I’m willing to bet they’ll back down from their deal and Ford will have to bring the threat back and negotiate again, etc.

Probably; but it’s a show of good faith that we are actually willing to come to an agreement, and it’s also more opportunity for the US to hang itself on the public stage.

We’ll give you the rope; we’d rather you made a bow with it, but if you want to make a noose that’s your choice.

Why do we have to show good faith while they show zero?

Yup, I was not impressed at all reading the headline on CBC, but this seems to be an olive branch considering the invitation to discuss on Thursday. So reasonable moves here

That’s not how I read this, this seems to be suspending the initial 25% electricity surcharge.

Looking at a few sources, I’m not entirely sure tbh.

Even so; I don’t mind showing a bit of restraint given an opportunity to negotiate an agreement. Helps demonstrate that it’s not the citizens of those states we’re upset with; they’re just caught in the crossfire between us and Washington.

We can always put the tariffs back, and in the meantime we can continue to expand into other markets and strengthen relationships with other nations.

Just watched https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rW0pjiFCHZU Yes it’s the original 25% he’s putting a hold on while they talk about things.

It sounds like the US said “We’re struggling to control Trump, please don’t escalate while we try to talk through it”

There is no restraint with Trump.

The citizens of those states voted for him. I’m sick of blue vs red state. Even the blue states have a high percentage of people who voted for this.

Krasnov did not say he’d lower the tariffs back down to 25%. He said that Ford is strong man with much millet. Beach party every day!

It’s complicated. If the theater involves and end that rolls back tariffs but Trump declaring victory, its fine. Navaro was polite in press. It’s mostly an ego play with Trump. Where Canadian politicians only get elected because they are colonial governors submitted to US empire, selling us out at the end of the play, is a possibility.

And what good is a negotiation? Are they following the current one? That Trump signed.

This isn’t much better than capitulation. Going back on your counter-move just to a promise to have a “talk”, that’s the same stuff that Putin’s been trying with Ukraine: Pull back your troops from Russian occupied territory, and Russia will promise to talk.

Ford’s given them exactly what they want just for the sake of having a face-to-face. What he should’ve done would be to say that he was willing to put withdrawing the surcharge on the table as an initial proposal on his side of the talks.

I don’t care that we can just put up the surcharge again, Ford just showed the US that he’s got a weak spine and can be bullied into withdrawing all measures at the slightest sign of agreement. Not even a promise of an agreement.
