If i were trying to improve the standing of my country and knew that the EU and US being economically linked is bad for me I would start a campaign to get the EU to stop buying american in order to weaken everyone. Divide et impera.

Fool me twice and… you’re stupid.

As another American president once said.

Yup, nothing to do with the trade war started by applying tariffs left and right, or threatening to take over part of the European country, or interfering with the UK and German elections… It must be some unknown conspiracy instead /s

Don’t forget cozying up to a nuclear-armed madman who’s ruthlessly invading your neighbor and wants to take you next and then threatening to leave the defensive pact that keeps you all safe from said madman.

Steelmanning their point, they might not be saying that all this is orchestrated by some third party (e.g. Russia), but that they are benefiting from it.

To which I’d say: unfortunately, the same holds true for the alternative.

I totally agree with the part of the comment that Russia benefits from weakening the EU and US alliance. What I am criticising is the suggestion that the problem started with boycotting US products.

Like everything the US did before, didn’t matter. That comment is dangerously close to the bully logic that Russia and Trump share: “we can do whatever we want to you, it’s your fault if you fight back”

I got called out as a russian troll in the past for saying that european countries should tell USA government and their military to fuck off.

You all drunk on propaganda, the same politicians in charge now shouting for the rearming of europe are the ones who for decades made every sort of deal with USA government and bought billions of weapons from them.

Until almost 2 months ago, the USA wasn’t the bootlicker of Putler that it is today. It was easier for Europe to buy stuff from the greatest power out there than to spend the money to develop the things in-house. American companies had both the technology and the capacity to produce whatever we needed, and depending on them did not pose any danger.

@index yeah. But since his 1st term

  • He encouraged a coup where masses of people stormed the Capitol building based on fake allegations of vote rigging;
  • He was convicted as a felon, plus had classified documents scattered all across his house;
  • He immediately started his 2nd term by dismantling the US democracy, while Musk and other members of his apparatus started doing the same with the democracy of their allies (e.g. see Germany);
  • He started bullying the country the US was supposed to defend against Russia;
  • His entourage started talking about a US pullout from NATO and the UN;
  • He stopped any military drills in Europe under NATO They plan to stop any military drills in Europe moving forward, and most importantly…
  • He’s eyeing for a third term in the White House for no fucking reason. That means there’s at least 8 years on his disposal to fuck Europe big time compared to the previous 4-year term.

Ban lengths, etc.

We will use some leeway to decide whether to remove a comment.
