If you still have legacy social, agitation over there is doing rounds right now. Unfortunately, there’s significantly fewer of us working to get people onboarded than the last migration. If you still have those accounts, please consider plugging fedi.

One possible group on Reddit to reach out to are the people doing /r/50501 - they’re organizing a large protest on Feb 5th, but it looks like a continuing resistance movement. They have more visibility on platforms outside of the Fediverse, but it’s only a matter of time before those platforms begin to throttle their visibility.

If they also grow a 50501 community on the Fediverse, when the throttling inevitably happens and the news pays attention to it, both their movement and the Fediverse will get a boost. They’ll probably lose their ability to organize on Reddit, but they will win more followers and help develop a better social media system.

If they promise not to link back to Reddit, I’d like to host them here.

Might be worth talking to the Mods there about having a parallel community here.

After all, one way to protest about the distortions to the political debate is to get off the Big Web. As I said back on The Bad Place - get out and get organised.

Would you consider linking to !fedigrow@lemm.ee and !reddit@lemmy.world in the sidebar? Fedigrow has similar aims, and monitoring Reddit provides useful insight on where to expect (or recruit :) new users from.

Spaduf hasn’t been here for the last few months. I asked @poVoq@slrpnk.net to make my alt a mod (https://slrpnk.net/post/17636445/13658180 ), let’s see how it goes.

Fedigrow has similar aims

Not exactly, Fedigrow is about internal growth (communities, consolidation), this one is more about external promotion

Spaduf seems to have been active as of a few days ago, so not sure why it needs my involvement?

Last comment 6 days ago, with the rate things are going, it would be nice to have an additional mod to be able to pin/unpin posts, such as the latest guide from @fxomt@lemmy.dbzer0.com

I see the distinction, but also feel that there is enough overlap that they could be merged, if advantageous. For now, both fedigrow and fedibridge seem to have decent activity, so perhaps no further action is necessary.

I’m actually now a mod of this community, I’ll probably suggest to lock it down when I have some time
