Hello c/Warframe!
First of all, I want to make a big shout out to @keegen@lemmy.zip , whose effort in writing the Weekly Warframe Revisited posts here are what got me back into the game recently.
I just crossed something like 120 hours played (across many different attempts to “get into” the game over the last 10 years), which I know is peanuts compared to many folks, but it’s a significant personal milestone. It’s very rare that any game holds my attention for that amount of time, though full disclosure compels me to state that, prior to this latest interaction with the game, I’d wager I didn’t make it more than 10 hours in any of my previous attempts.
So, thanks to Keegen and their work here. I’ll speak for all of my fellow lurkers (what are they gonna do, post something to correct me? I think it unlikely lol) by saying we appreciate the effort you’ve put into preventing this community from stagnating.
In an effort to contribute, do any of you have any moments you’d like to share where Warframe made you do your best ?
I’ll go first. Important to note 100+ playtime hours. I JUST discovered this week that the handful of mods I have in my inventory which affect multiple damage stats are rewards for Nightmare Missions. I’ve felt like my main frame’s power level had plateaued for some time, and routinely struggle to take on enemies in the 40-50 range on longer endless missions. Cue me learning that I’d been (intentionally) ignoring the mode which grants the exact sort of reward that breaks a build through to that tier of content, and cue my Picard impression.
There are definitely a few things I’ve done in the past that make me cringe and want to facepalm whenever I think about them. Here are some of those moments…
- Rushing multiple 1-minute crafts for 10 plat
- Buying overpriced stuff on warframe.market
- Buying overpriced Intensify on warframe.market
- Trying to find all Kuria in under 5 hours
- Selling multiple Nightmare mods for endo
- Selling multiple maxed primed mods for Endo
- Selling max Arbiters of Hexis galvanized mods
- Selling frames, weapons, items, when low on slots
- Selling augment mods for credit
- Selling Ayatan stars for Endo
When I was very very new in 2015 I think I got hard walled on Mars because I wasn’t modding at all, and I couldn’t figure out why I was constantly dying and couldn’t kill any enemies. I understood that mods made my guns better, but I didn’t understand it was like a jump of 4x power or higher. Later on when I had a formaed and potatoed Atomos I felt like a god (I was playing Ivara so I was, in fact).
Nowadays, it’s more like mechanical misunderstandings:
- Sevagoth: for the longest time, I thought Reap applied damage vulnerability, as opposed to Sow.
- Zephyr: I thought flight speed on Tail Wind scaled off range, or strength, or… . It’s actually duration. I have >300 hours on this frame.
- Gauss: Mach Rush scales speed off Strength, right? Sadly no. It’s purely off sprint speed, but with a heavy multiplier. Titania scales her move speed off strength.
I played through the majority of the starchart without adding forma/potatoes to my equipment. It would have been the point where I finally made it to the Kuva Fortress before I started. I wasn’t using guides and this was before nightwave so there wasn’t even anything to prompt players to use forma on their weapons. Event weapons like the Opticor Vandal and Dex Sybaris carried me through most of the game.
Sold my Xoris for space. Then tried to do the Granum Void. Then had to farm a million Simaris points to get a new one. =[
Dissolving a fully ranked Primed Point Blank. At least for Endo.
Upgrading a second Arcane to Rank 1.
