A documentary about the first Mardi Gras parade in Sydney, Australia. I found a copy of this earlier in the year and posted it on archive.org. Content Warning for police brutality.

I’m cross-posting this here as I thought this community might find it interesting as well. I think the way I procured it also leads to a bigger discussion about the preservation of queer film & media. I think it’s important, now more than ever, for younger and freshly realised queer people to see that we’ve been here and fighting for our rights for a really long. Videos like this one feel like they evoke a more visceral connection to that past.

Community Guidelines

QHDN is a queer leftist space for hobbyist hackers interested in programming, local system administration, and other related topics. It aims to be a friendly community and repository for learning and sharing how to run and maintain your own services, be it for smart home, data storage, media storage, or anything else.

We invite you to get silly with it, but first we need to get some important rules out of the way:

  • Absolutely no bigotry of any kind will be tolerated.
  • Please follow the rules of the lemmy.blahaj.zone instance. This includes not posting any content that might be considered illegal. Discussion of things like piracy is okay, but linking to resources is not. If in doubt, please message the moderators.
  • Whilst this space welcomes everyone, it is an inherently queer, leftist space and the safety of those members comes first. This also isn’t the space to have disagreements about those politics, but to discuss technological ways to ensure privacy and safety.
  • Don’t demean others for asking what you might consider basic questions. Everyone has to start somewhere, and this is a safe space for people of all experience levels. As well, plenty of people have expertise in one area over others.
  • Whilst this isn’t a NSFW community, discussion of NSFW topics related to the community, such as taking back control of your teledildonics, is allowed. But please make sure to tag them appropriately.
  • Most of all, be excellent to each other.

Post Tagging

While you’re not required to tag your posts, it could be helpful to do so when relevant. Here are some tags we’ve come up with:

  • [Question]
  • [Help]
  • [Resource]
  • [Project]
  • [Meme]
