Sam opens up about his ongoing battle with cancer.

Sam is my favorite

Sam’s performance helped me find the courage to drop some of the shitty people in my life with Scanlan’s departure in C1. Nott was a great example to never give up hope even after the world has done it’s best to warp you into a monster.
He’s become one of those unmet forces for good that I didn’t think I’d depend on to just exist in the world. The initial faint thoughts of doubt that might prevent me from making an extra effort, or taking creative risk, get blown away by his contagious enthusiasm.
I’ve lost loved ones to lymphoma and I just wish I could lighten the burden of fear/uncertainty that Sam and Quyen and the kids are carrying.

Here’s a moment from Campaign 1 of Travis as Grog Strongjaw, paying tribute to resurrect Scanlan Shorthalt (Sam’s character) that highlights their friendship in and out of game.

Lost my mom to breast cancer nearly 20 years ago. Wife got cervical cancer 15 years ago, ended up beating it and has been cancer free for 12 years. Cancer fucking sucks floppy donkey dick.

What is Critical Role?

Critical Role is a group of nerdy-ass voice actors who sit around and play Dungeons & Dragons.
