That’s the whole response.
It doesn’t sound like there’s much that can be changed though. The business model is just ripping people off.
not defending all of nzxt’s deal here or anything but tbf, there is some substantial risk involved with shipping a $1000-2000+ product that will only ever depreciate in value, and only getting a small fraction of that up-front. and the ones most likely to use a ‘subscription’ or ‘rental’ for a relatively expensive pc are those who wouldn’t qualify for a credit card with sufficient limit to purchase on its terms (or have already maxxed theirs), a retail store’s payment plan (like no interest over 12mo deal at bestbuy or similar), or a buy over time service (like affirm).
We all complain sometimes that people don’t read the article. But when the article can be so easily summed up like this, why should we bother?
Oh, the article is about 4-5x that long before getting to that quote from NZXT’s Instagram feed.
Right, that’s what I’m saying. It’s a rehash summary of the Gamers Nexus vid interspersed with advertisements before getting to the point.

Translation: Fuck! you caught us. We are currently in PR disaster recovery mode and trying to figure out how to spin this to not look like complete scum bags. Rest assured, we are committed to trying to find some escape goat to throw under the bus and minimizing the damage to our reputation.
Escape goat is probably a Trailer Park Boys reference, some of us just like to deliberately mispronounce things in an ironic manner too.
Literally the etymology though. 'scape instead of escape is the original “mispronunciation” otherwise it’s just a straight-forward translation of Azazel, the goat which escaped in Levictus 16.
A slightly more accurate translation:
Oh, you actually noticed. We are currently waiting for our pack of lawyers to prepare the paperwork to file a suit against GamersNexus for what we are going to claim is libel. Rest assured, we are committed to trying to find some escape goat to throw under the bus and minimizing the damage to our investors.
Soon;
“We investigated ourselves and didn’t find anything wrong”
“We’re sorry, we thought you wouldn’t notice and that we could get away with it”.
I wonder if there’s going to be a lot more of this kind of thing once those tariffs kick in.
