I reported them for harassment with the following statement:

The purpose of this group is to review bomb any game that has gay representation. Their discussion threads talk about using other platforms to discriminate against LGBTQ+ communities and individuals to circumvent Steam’s TOS policies. This type of behavior promotes discrimination, review brigading, and toxicity. It is surprising Steam is tolerating such open homophobia on this platform.

I don’t see this as an issue, I see it as a recommendation list.

I never played Hypnospace Outlaws, but Slayers X by the same dev is awesome. Also devoid of any politics. I have a hard time believing Hypnospace Outlaws has any strong politics other then characters having none-cis identities.

Sure. For me the score is one of the last things I consider, so review bombing and what ever the opposite is called aren’t all that important.

Why is this an issue? Should all people enjoy LGBTQ+ content and not have any way to avoid it if they so wish? Also, the curator is not using offensive language, just pointing out which content has pro-LGBTQ+ content.

A total non issue my dudes. Perhaps there are more important fights out there?

edit Even the screenshot includes the “Ignore this curator” button. Does it not work for you? Shit like this is why nobody except your own bubble is taking you seriously.

The curator wants to use offensive language but avoids doing so to prevent getting banned. So they use “polite” ways to discriminate and encourage their following to do so as well.

If you looked any further into this group and exited your own bubble, you would realize this. Instead you commented without reading further and assumed I reported this group because they don’t enjoy the same types of games I do.

By this logic, i could accuse you of wanting to say the N word but only not saying it to avoid getting banned. So FACTUALLY nothing like that happened but you realize how shit would the justice system be if it worked like this? I could just insert thoughts and wants into anyone’s head, and crucify them. If something didn’t happen then it didnt. Call it out once it does. Dont’ assume.

Steam has a hard limit on like 200 curators to ignore, after which point it will print a vague error about it not working. I know, I hit that limit. That’s not a solution.

permalink

Then make a stink about that and they’ll fix it. Most likely nobody tested if the system breaks when you have so many curators blocked (because honestly, who would have this many) and it’s a simple fix to do.

Fallacy of false equivalence. Your example is of actual criminal activity (vandalism) resulting in tangible damages (the vandalized home now needs to be repaired, also surrounding properties lose value due to criminal activity).

Please feel free to try to make your point again, this time without using a logical fallacy or bad faith argument.

the cause is to harass lgbt people until they stop existing. This tiny group is doing so by attacking game developers in possibly the most ineffective way possible. If the group follower count was a couple orders of magnitude larger, then I’d be concerned.

Steam Curators curate recommendation lists that users can subscribe to based on what they like / don’t like.

If I already don’t want to hear anything about LGBT, then I will follow curators like this. It’s not the other way around.

If a pride event is “overtly pro lgbtq” we have to also count Fourth of July or even Thanksgiving events as “overtly pro USA”, Lunar New Year as “overtly pro Asia”, and Christmas and Easter as “overtly pro Christianity”.

Do you see the problem?

permalink

Not op but I don’t particularly see the problem all of those things are true (well I know basically nothing about lunar new years and historical context for it but ye)

permalink

Yeah, that’s my point. None of these things are bad, but if we count one of them as such, we have to accept that other events are also problematic. I would for example really like to see Ramadan events in games, but can you imagine the uproar if that were to become a thing?

permalink

Yeah it is. Telling other people not to play a game just because it allows the creation of a characrer who is not male or female is pretty homophobic

permalink

Clearly not. Its possible to not hate and accept something while chosing to not support it at the same time in your communities.

permalink

They’re literally anti LGBT though. They are suggesting people not play games because it has LGBT themes, how does this have anything to do with “both sides”? Both sides of what?? I’m gay but most of the games I play have no gay representation, so why would it matter what “side” you’re on unless you’re homophobic and can’t stand seeing someone who’s LGBT?

permalink

Left and right. Being right wing and prefering not to play/support games that you fundamentally don’t agree with is fair. Its not “homophobic” for them to notice things they personally don’t align with and not recommend it to other people themselves. Even i can see that, and im ftm.

permalink

Nah, still homophobic. Not supporting something you otherwise would, specifically because it has gay people in it is homophobic. It might be part of your political belief, but it’s still homophobic to single out the LGBT themes as a reason to dislike a game. I can see that cuz I’m mtf and bi. And I believe gender and sexuality should even be political in the first place but whatever.

Define homophobic. If your definition is hating LGBT people, then its not homophobic. They are free to dislike content that contains political topics they generally dont agree with. Thats not homophobia. You gotta be a bit more accepting of contrarian views.

Bisexual

Create post

This is a community for bisexuals, their allies, friends, family, anyone curious about us or our community, or just people who want to hang out.

Bisexual means different things to different people, and I’m not going to tell you what it should mean to you. But one thing I will say is that being bisexual does NOT mean being trans-exclusionary. We love no matter what dingles, dongles, or dangles you do or do not have in your pants.

Of course, there are the basic rules. No hate speech, no brigading, no doxing, no homophobia, no transphobia, no sexism, no racism, no illegal material. Rules will be added as needed.

At the moment, we do not have a hard and fast rule over NSFW images or posts, but I will say that this is a community about bisexuality, not for porn. Please don’t make me ban NSFW content altogether.
