TIFU by thinking I can just use one drive and upload the albums one by one and downloading them and then deleting them.

Well I actually kept doing it until I noticed the synch was not only deleting the one drive file it was also deleting my albums that were synched at the same time.

Now I have to recover 40 Albums because I didn’t check what was going on while doing this whole thing.

Now I have to recover them all and while doing so I noticed it has wrong date/ time now.

Pro tip: You should synch your fotos with one drive, download the photos, UNSYNCH again and then delete.

I can just use one drive

This is the real fuck up moment. Almost anything else would’ve had better UI and settings to warn you before you even made any mistake. OneDrive has an absolutely awful user experience.

It does warn you, but when it does, there’s a box that you can check to never warn you about that again. Most people just check it and close it so it’ll stop popping up, and then forget.

Which I can’t blame them for, because using Windows and 365 nowadays is a never ending barrage of bullshit, meaningless pop ups and notifications that you have to close. The average user just starts tuning them out so when an important, relevant one pops up, they don’t pay attention.

You should always have THREE copies of your data!!!

The one you work with, a local backup, and an off-sight backup. And you have to test that you can restore the data from time to time!

… he said despite not testing the restore as he knows he should.

It’s not sync-hronize. It’s synch-ronize. So “synch” actually makes more sense. Just like “psych”.

“makes more sense” is not a valid approach to language, instead, what everyone “agrees” on is what is correct. And that is often very non-logic. But also your logic itself is not good, it could just as well be sync-hronize. How is hronize worse than ronize?

But synch is actually ok, I just checked. Just never saw that anywhere.

I agree with you, but you gotta admit the “psych” parallel is pretty compelling.

Similar to heli or copter, which both make no sense because it’s not heli-copter but helico-pter

Welcome to TIFU.

This community will stand as a tribute to the fuck up in all of us. We all do something stupid from time to time, this is your place to share and laugh about it with folks on the internet!

Da Rules:

  1. Use proper formatting

A. All titles must start with TIFU.

B. All posts must have a TL;DR at the end. Some of us are too lazy to read your story, sorry.

C. Use the NFSW Tag, if a Post isn’t Appropriate in General but still follows the rules. (Sex stories and etc.)

  1. Posts must be about you.

  2. Must be your fault.

  3. A few things that aren’t allowed.

A. No Rape/minors/bestiality. No death of animals. No glorification of major crimes.

B. Illegal activities that you glorify or giving advice on how to do something illegal.

  1. Must be actual fuckups No humblebrags or stories that have zero consequences and don’t go anywhere. Eg “TIFU by sexy sex”. Moderator discretion.

  2. Be civil and don’t be disruptive No racism/bigotry/homophobia/transphobia. No personal attacks on other users, no name-calling. No low-effort “this didn’t happen” type comments.

  3. No Self Promotion No making posts with the express purpose of promoting your business/video game/porn career. Even if not mentioned within the text of the post, alluding to links on your profile is not allowed. This covers implying you will set up a stream/public link/onlyfans in the future, having set up one in the past, or anything along the lines of “upvote this comment if you want me to do this.” These examples are by no means comprehensive, just don’t self promote.

  4. Mod Discretion Mods have the right to supersede any rule and make removals as we see fit, which may or may not be the rules listed in this community.
