Escape and disguise will not save you - we will find you and destroy you.

One would think they would have by now started using shotguns to shoot down drones. Seems like it would be way more effective than a rifle.

Most effective way to deal with this would have been to stay home.

Can you imagine carrying an additional shotgun everywhere?

Couldn’t you designate one person in the squad as the shotgun guy?

I guess tha makes sense. Maybe too much sense for the Russian Army.

PS Happy cake day!

It’s not any harder than imagining having to worry about being blown up by drones every day.

White flag? Have Russian invaders been flying it falsely, or does Ukraine just not care? (Legit question, I haven’t heard about this. I stand with Ukraine.)

It looks as if they’re not surrendering but fleeing and this is a last, desperate attempt to not be a statistic

The white flag is, per international treaties, a signal you want to communicate with the other side regarding a truce or surrender. It’s not a free “get out of jail” card when you’re retreating.

Maybe driving the wrong way and well… not stopping. I’ve also seen videos of mobiks pretending to surrender and then throwing grenades.

If they wanted to wave a white flag you get out of the vehicle and disarm not drive away with your weapons

Tbf I’m pretty sure if they stopped the vehicle the bomb would have reached them sooner, if they piled out it likely would have turned the vehicle to shrapnel before they got far enough away to then safely surrender.

And I’m not sure the drone operator had enough time to even register the signal and change the direction of the drone. Human reaction time is about .5sec from decision to action, and on top of that add “is that even within the realm of possibility for drone maneuverability,” it honestly kinda seems like they were just fucked on timing.

Aircraft are generally not required to accept surrender unless it is apparent that the surrendering soldiers have removed themselves from the conflict (disarmed) and are headed toward your lines (intent to give up). Even then it’s a judgment call if the aircraft is incapable of escorting them to nearby ground troops who can accept their surrender and take them into custody. That’s why you see videos of unarmed soldiers making the surrender gestures and they still get taken out by the drone. They’re too far behind enemy lines to facilitate taking them prisoner.

The explosives used on those drones are far from enough to turn a whole vehicle into shrapnel. If they bailed out and laid on the ground they likely would have been uninjured. But think from their perspective, you could jump out and run away hoping the drone chases someone else, or you could stay in the truck and maybe out run it. The psychological horror of modern drone warfare has never been seen before and we will likely see the scars well into the future.
