Please stay in Austria, you’re so much better off over there. We’re teetering on the rickety edge of doom and you do not want to get caught up in the middle of it if everything goes sideways. Trump is a blight, but given everything that’s gone before him since Nixon and then Reagan, he’s unfortunately the inevitable consequence of it all.
As an American, Austria has its own problems with the far right.
Austrian conservative right was caught red handed accepting bribes… by german state public media. It’s mind blowing how similar the conservatives are in different countries. (= Corrupt and Weird)
Germany’s ARD and ZDF (et al) are not ‘state media’ btw. They are publicly funded but not run by the state. Each broadcaster has its own council that is supposed to be representative of German society that must by law include representatives from popular parties (not just the ones in government), unions, religions, human rights campaigners etc…
Only DW (Deutsche Welle) is run and owned by the government.
Do Austrians yell “OY YA FOCKIN CONT” when greeting a friend?
