Because it still reads correctly with the blacked out bits, it just reads more honestly about how little Microsoft gives a fuck about hydrocarbons, climate, change, or any future that isn’t “Microsoft owns everything.”

Wrote how Microsoft committed to carbon reduction goals - except all their AI compute would completely blow all their numbers.

Then there’s Microsoft’s customers, they’re marketing AI to the fossil fuel companies as a “powerful tool for finding and developing new oil and gas reserves and maximizing their production.”

Microsoft thinks fossil fuels are a market opportunity of $35 billion to $75 billion, especially as the oil and gas industry is turning to Microsoft for guidance.

It’s OK – the problems being caused by AI will be fixed with more AI.

Good question, first I didn’t screenshot the entire post, the purpose was it’s to narrow it down to the point that I wanted to highlight, and it’s more likely to be a fair use if I commentat it and contain less of the content. For the full content you should view the actual article.
