The sleep apnea feature on the watch is cool and the hearing aid feature on the airpods are cool. Not enough for me to buy them but i like that they keep adding health features
60hz on a 2024 flagship is just sad.
I actually kind of like that Apple has become a boring and iterative company for the most part. I just use the same glass and metal rectangle until a few months after my upgrade eligibility on my work plan (because I always forget when it is), then I get whichever glass and metal rectangle is cheap now. I routinely forget which iPhone I use, and my life is no worse because of it.
Okay, I just looked it up. It’s a 13, and I did remember, but I was not at all confident.
Same bs every year
well yeah but i have to admit, the pink color is awesome. if it didn’t have to get that damn chatgpt integration, i would ditch android. been on the edge for a while.
I personally prefer the Pixel 9’s pink; it’s a bit more vibrant, at least on the pictures.
Still no cool colours for the Pro models, though (apart from the Pixel 9 Pro’s light pink)
Not that I personally would ever switch to iPhone because there is still a lack of sideloading open source software; but could you just not use the chat gpt integration?
It seems they are actually trying to not data harvest with all the AI stuff, there is quite a focus on privacy respecting server architecture and clearly defined conformations for the user for when something runs off device, or even off of Apple’s cloud (e.g. Chat GPT). I believe they even made their backend third party verifyable (although I’ve only seen their claims about this, I haven’t actually followed up).
Anyway, plenty of reasons to dislike apple, I’m sure they still collect data, but why not just ignore the Chat GPT functionality?
my fear is that openai is analyzing everything you do on the phone, not so much the chatbot. but then again i bet apple and google are already doing exactly that. all the forced AI stuff just irritates me like hell. and i live in EU area so sideloading is possible. i haven’t looked much into how much open source apps are available though.
It’s nice that Apple for once introduced a nice feature for others to copy, the camera button. I loved those on my Lumia and Xperia phones.
Everything else is just meh… the normal 16 comes in some cool colours at least
I’m kinda confused on why this button is helpful. If you open the camera app on iOS, hitting either volume button will take a picture.

Opens the camera faster than going through the lock screen (something I desperately miss from my Android phones), and it’s multifunctional. You can press it with different intensity levels to get different functionality, and it’s touch sensitive so you can use it to make adjustments.
It’s not like, revolutionary. But it looks pretty cool and I’m looking forward to trying it out.
Double-press the lock button and the camera opens on android phones (or at least you can configure it that way). Been that way for years.
