I moved to LMDE 6 when it came out, moving over from regular Mint. It’s so nice and boring… Which is exactly how I like my computer to be.

I’m on Debian proper, but indeed, the older I get, the more I like boring.

When I was a teenager, keeping the pile of garbage I called computer running was a hobby on its own. I enjoyed trying to compile with different flags to get slightly faster and tinkering with grub, wifi drivers, etc.

Today, I just need a stable platform.

Interesting aside for anyone interested; you can subscribe to her Peertube account with your Lemmy account by searching !veronicaexplains@tinkerbetter.tube in your instance’s search bar (or clicking that link). Then any video she uploads in the future will show up in your lemmy feed, and any comments you leave on lemmy should show up on the peertube video! :D

Thanks. Can I ask as I always hear about how the fediverse allows me to use my mastodon/lemmy account etc. to subscribe to a different federated service: are they all connectable and it just depends on personal preference what I want to see in my feed or do only some subscriptions work cross platform?

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word “Linux” in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
